Miss USA 2010 has been arrested for DUI.
Rima Fakih, former Miss USA, faces drunk driving charges following her arrest Saturday morning (03.12.11) in Highland Park, Michigan. The 26-year-old beauty initially denied that she has been arrested tweeting:
“Let’s clear things up now. … I’m NOT in Michigan and I’m NOT in jail! Wrong Fakih.”
Short time after the tweet was posted, former Miss USA’s lawyer Doraid Elder confirmed that it was in fact Rima Fakih who had been arrested on DUI charges. He did not provide any details surrounding the arrest except to say that Fakih was “very saddened and very apologetic for the situation that she is in right now.” According to WXYZ, Miss Rima Fakih blew a .20, while in Michigan, a .08 is the legal limit.
If convicted, the former Miss USA, faces up to 93 days in jail, as well as fines and court costs, and may be ordered to perform community service.
In May 2010 the beauty became the first Miss Michigan to win the Miss USA title since 1993 and the first Arab American ever to win the pageant. Rima Fakih was born in Lebanon and raised in New York.
